We are proud to be the first practice in Cyprus, who introduced Scleral Lenses back in 2007. Over the years Scleral lens technology has evolved significantly with improved materials, designs and fitting techniques.

Scleral Lenses
Comfort and Clarity
for Irregular Corneas
and Dry Eyes
Scleral lenses are large-diameter rigid gas permeable contact lenses that rest on the sclera (the white part of the eye) rather than on the cornea. They vault over the cornea, creating a tear-filled reservoir between the back surface of the lens and the cornea, which provides excellent comfort and visual correction for individuals with irregular corneas or severe dry eyes.
Scleral lenses are often used to manage a variety of eye conditions, including:
1. Keratoconus
The lenses provide stability and a smooth optical surface over the irregular cornea.
2. Post-Surgical Corneas
They are frequently fitted after refractive surgery complications, such as in post-LASIK or after corneal graft surgery, where corneal shape has been altered.
3. Ocular Surface Disease
For severe dry eye, Sjögren’s syndrome, or graft-versus-host disease, scleral lenses protect the cornea and keep it hydrated.
4. Irregular Astigmatism
Scleral lenses can effectively correct vision when conventional lenses or spectacles fail due to significant corneal irregularities.
Centre of Clinical Excellence.
Modern sclerals are made from highly oxygen permeable materials, which allow better corneal health, making them safer for long-term wear.
