The Importance of Regular Eye Examination: A Comprehensive Guide
Eye Examination
Regular eye examinations are essential for healthy, comfortable and clear vision!
Comprehensive eye examination provides full assessment of the status of the eyes. That includes finding the appropriate prescription for glasses for optimum vision for all tasks and examining the health of your eyes. Good vision is not an indication that your eyes are healthy. Early diagnosis of eye and vision problems can help prevent vision loss.
LONG-TERM EYE HEALTH
Preserve Your Vision
for life
To maintain a lifetime of healthy vision we recommend an eye examination at least every two years. Annual examination is recommended for people with:
- Family history of an eye disease such as glaucoma, macular degeneration
- Diabetes or high blood pressure
- Visually demanding occupation
- Previous eye injury or eye surgery
- Wearing contact lenses
- Functional vision in one eye
- High or progressive refractive error
A typical eye examination lasts between 20-30 minutes in a comfortable fully air-conditioned room offering complete privacy.

OUR PROCESS
What to Expect From a Comprehensive
Eye Examination
Comprehensive Eye Examination Explained
1. Patient History and Visual Needs
We establish the reason for your visit, your visual needs, any past eye problems, health problems, medication taken and your family history.
2. Vision Assessment with Letter Chart
Vision is assessed using a computerised letter chart.
3. Eye Movement Evaluation
Eye movement tests are carried out to assess how the eyes are working together. We are looking for deviations that could result from squints, muscle dysfunction, or palsy of the cranial nerves innervating the muscles of the eyes. Sometimes stress to the visual system is the reason for headaches and blurred vision.
4. Color Vision Test
Color vision test.
5. Pupil Reaction Assessment
Pupil reactions are assessed and pupils should have the same size and respond to light. Any abnormality to their function could indicate a neurological defect.
6. Prescription Fine-Tuning
We will fine-tune the prescription of your glasses using different trial lenses to give the clearest and most comfortable vision for distance and near.
7. Eye Pressure Measurement
An instrument is used to measure the pressure of your eyes. Few puffs are blown into your eyes and a direct reading is displayed. High eye pressure raises the risk for developing glaucoma, a sight threatening condition that most of the time gives no indication of its presence.
8. Comprehensive Eye Examination
External and Internal examination of the eyes to exclude any ocular pathology.
9. Discussion and Visual Recommendations
We will finally discuss our findings and recommend based on your lifestyle and needs the most suitable visual correction i.e. spectacles, contact lenses etc. We keep records of all our findings so we can follow up in the future of any changes.
10. Referral for Further Investigation
If a suspicion of an underlying disease is present, we will refer you to an ophthalmologist for further investigation.
