Is Your Kid a Myopic One?
Studies have found that “kids who have myopia and are spending longer hours in outdoor activities (longer than 2 hours) have less of a risk for their myopia to progress”.
Now why does it matter if the child has myopia of -3.00 or -5.00? Either way he will still need glasses or contact lenses to see well. Perhaps by slowing the growth of the eye, we can lower the risk of retinal detachment, cataract, or glaucoma (Saw et al, 2005). More likely, we will improve the patient’s quality of life (Rose et al, 2000).
So encourage kids to avoid spending all day in front of the computer, tablet or TV!
Take them for a walk, let them play in the park or at the beach!
Spend time with your children in outdoor activities!!
